The Mornings have been foggy and cool with today’s early morning temperature at 61 degrees. The forecast for later in the day was for the 80’s so we targeted between the window of the fog rising and until the heat became too intense. Optimism abounded as we saw trout rising wherever we looked. Hoppers are still plentiful along the bank and a nice cool morning hatch of Blue Wing Olives was occurring so a hopper with an emerger dropper was set up with immediate results. A small fresh spring was adding its flow to the main stream and at this junction a nice Fall colored Brookie took the emerger. What a wonderful start to an enjoyable morning casting to consistent takes both to the hopper and the dropper. Slowly but surely Fall is approaching. Slight changes in the color of the leaves; birds beginning to flock together; the smell of autumn along the stream – Driftless trout and so much more.
