A cold front came through last night and it was noticeably cooler. This was an early start to the day and with the consistent success of the hopper and dropper setup why change? Well half of this dynamic duo worked very good as the nymphs and shrimp takes were pulling the hopper under as the indicator, producing some very nice trout. But there was no interest on the surface hopper. Some may recall the success last year of the caddis pupa later in the season. This year was no different as trout after trout gorged themselves on this offering. What a way to welcome the arrival of Fall. Walking back to the car, with the banks warm and dry, the hoppers were again going wild. You just know what that means!
