Stream Conditions: cloudy/normal levels, water temp was 63℉

Insect Hatching Activity: Midge, Caddis, Terrestrials

Summer is waning and we’re starting to see some leaves in the stream. The stream was discolored with visibility being down about two feet. How the trout was able to see a size 20 nymph offering in off colored water through some swift runs still amazes me. The hoppers aren’t slowing down yet either as offerings to the strike indicator tells us that it is time to switch to the hopper/dropper combination. It was extremely enjoyable fishing this morning with humidity in the 50-percentile range along with summer slowly relinquishing her hold on the high heat. My only concern for the day was this big bruiser gatekeeper which required an alternative departure from the stream.
