Spirit Streams Avatar

Forecast: 85℉, 9 mph wind, partly cloudy, 70% humidity
Stream Conditions: clear/normal levels, water temp was 63℉
Insect Hatching Activity: Caddis, Blue-Winged Olive, Midge, Crane Fly, Sulphur, Terrestrials

As summer progresses and as the prolific land-based insects rule the stream banks, the wild brown trout are earnestly focused on the unfortunate terrestrial hopper who made the leap into the trouts watery dinner plate domain.  It is so exciting to fish to this terrestrial hatch; strikes come in all manners, each are exhilarating to behold and experience. There is the discerning strike where the fish rises, analyze the offering, then pounces; also the strike where the fly lands on the water and the trout immediately pounces and finally the take the little nymph dropper strike that was presented along with the hopper.  It truly is a pleasure to be out on the stream on these days as the Spring lushness is stepping aside to the smells and sounds of Summer and through it all the stream flows on and the springs gush forth.
