Insect Hatching Activity: Sulphur, Caddis, Blue-Winged Olive, Midge, Terrestrials
It was a perfect summer morning in the Wisconsin Driftless today. The spring creeks were in great shape and a diverse mixture of insects where hatching, even though the hatches were sporadic. Trout activity was very solid beginning early morning until late morning when activity tempered a bit. Small streamers and Caddis pupa were strong producers in the early hours, followed by terrestrials during the final couple hours of the morning. Just simply being outside in the Driftless Area surrounded by bluffs, valleys, a multitude of spring creeks, wild trout, cattle, and everything else that the intimacy of this diverse ecoystem has to offer, sure has a way of refreshing and revitalizing oneself!
