That early morning fog rising from the surface water of the spring creek and suspending within the intimate Driftless valley. Great Blue Herons stealthily hunting for an early morning meal. The deep breath of the cattle herd visible on this crisp June morning. A sunrise that exudes power and demands awe. All of these scenes and so much more surround you during this time of year in the Driftless Area and today was no exception. Trout feeding activity began slow, no doubt due to being plump full of insects galore from the prolific evening/night hatches the day prior. Nymphs, dries, and streamers with a technical presentation all forced the take on these crystal clear spring creeks. What a beautiful morning it was being immersed within the diverse, complex, and very unique Driftless ecosystem.
