Forecast: 55℉, 10 mph wind, cloudy
Conditions: slightly discolored/normal levels, water temp was 52℉
Insect Hatching Activity: Midge, Caddis
We received strong rain and thunderstorms overnight Thursday and into Friday. This caused many stream systems in our area to raise in water level and become very stained, even in upper sections of many tributaries throughout Friday and Saturday. There were only a select few tributaries that filtered enough spring water to prove fishable. In those tributaries, trout were very aggressive to both dead-drifted nymphs and small streamers as there was very sporadic insect hatching activity. The particular stream of choice on this day contained bountiful and diverse nymph production under every single rock examined.
